I don’t know where you live but here in North Carolina we’re getting snow days.
North Carolina is drunk.
You may already know I am not a big fan of snow or winter or anything having to do with wearing a coat. Yesterday was a magical snow day for us after I was reminded to look at a snow day through the eyes of my kids, and not through the bottom of the laundry basket that needed folding.
We have the best place to sled and snowboard right here in our neighborhood…THE COUNTRY CLUB DRIVING RANGE!
I like to think we made some pretty good decisions when choosing where to raise our family. A driving range that doubles as a sledding and snowboarding hill?
YES PLEASE!
Check it out.
So we did that all day. Like my awesome camera moves while sledding to get Peter, our ten year-old’s, action video?
Then I tried to take a selfie doing snow angels. You should know that ten year-old boys would NEVER do a selfie in public and so I got this reaction…
“Where do you keep the gin?”
Last night Jim and I went to dinner with friends and left a gaggle of teenage boys and one ten year old son home alone because they had already cancelled school for everyone the next day.
Not long into the evening my phone rang.
The ten year-old, “Mom, can I make Mitchell and Avery and their friends cookies?”
Me, “Yes, but they have to supervise the oven part.”
A little while later….
Phone call two from same youngest son, “Mom, where do you keep the gin?”
Me, “Excuse me?”
Peter, “The gin. I need it.”
Me, “I don’t understand. Spell what the recipe says.”
Peter, “G. I. N.”
Me, “What kind of cookies are you making?”
Peter, “Oh, those are done. I am reading my survivalist book and I am making weed killer now.”
Think I make this stuff up?
I mean I know why a mom would want gin on a snow day but a kid?
I have friends that witnessed it.

Haha, love this, I’m sure that was a scary phone call, but at least he called to ask right? Hope you had a cookie when you got home!

I had a couple cookies! He had no idea what gin was so it was super cute! I explained when I got home and he also has a great sense of humor. He was rolling laughing. “I called you asking for alcohol? Bahhhhaa!”
